IHMIG- Integrative Health and Medicine Interest Group
|Co-Presidents||Rachel Freedman & Reagan McKendree|
|Co-Treasurers||Sachoya McDonald & Macie Wilkins|
The Integrative Health and Medicine Interest Group, formerly the Holistic Medicine Interest Group, has a mission to create a population of future physicians at the University of Florida focused on whole person medical care by fostering dialogue surrounding all aspects of health and healing. Integrative Medicine understands the importance of the relationship between the physician and patient, and emphasizes the integration of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) with conventional medicine in order to provide the best care to patients. The IHMIG hopes to provide students with resources to learn about different complementary and alternative practices, as well as an understanding of how to use evidence based medicine to integrate those practices safely into their future professions. There will also be opportunities to interact with physicians at the University of Florida who currently use Integrative Medicine in their practices. Finally, another important aspect of integrative health is the health of the physician, and the IHMIG strives to provide opportunities for students to relax and gain stress management techniques that can be used now and in the future.
