UF COM was selected as one of a handful of medical schools across the country to host a pre-release screen for ESCAPE FIRE: The Fight to Resuce American Healthcare, an award-winning film which premiered at Sundance earlier this year. The film will be released in theaters later in the fall.
ESCAPE FIRE describes challenges and struggles within American health care over priorities and spending, overtreatment, and the best and most effective ways to care for patients. The film offers compelling stories of pioneering leaders and the patients they seek to help.
After the screening, we hosted an engaging discussion further exploring the key points of the documentary and developing concrete action items for UF COM as we continue to work toward patient-centered healthcare.
