On September 11th, about 50 UFCOM students attended the Psychiatry Interest Group’s meeting “What is Psychiatry?” to learn more about the field and the various career opportunities it provides. Led by Dr. Averbuch, a panel of 2 psychiatrists and one resident discussed their experiences with the field as a whole and with their respective subspecialties. Students learned about the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing a career in psychiatry and were encouraged to seek out shadowing opportunities in the numerous psychiatry departments at UFCOM.
