What is the Purpose of the Event? Every year, AMSA chapters across the country celebrate a week of achievements and push further advocacy for PharmFree, an initiative best described as “an event to highlight the importance of putting patients first by addressing conflicts of interest and encouraging evidence rather than marketing-based education” for the prescription and use of pharmaceuticals. We want to hold a series of events, including guest speakers, interactive programs, and the importance of recognizing such a critical issue, for the medical students. Through education and knowledge, we can further this important issue.
What is the Benefit to the State, the university, and/or your organization? Without a doubt, education of future doctors on such an important issue makes a substantial impact on the patients they will eventually see. That includes the patients here at the university, within the state, and wherever our future physicians will go.
