Purpose of Trip: This conference is an opportunity for UF students to gain insight into the EM profession from local leaders and network with students and physicians who share their interests. Students will learn about the most pressing, relevant issues in EM in Florida today and attend specific medical student-targeted programming designed to help them achieve their career goals in both the short and long term.
Benefit to Student Body:
The 8 attendees will learn about the most important issues facing EM in their state and gain insight into what a career in EM entails. Additionally, three of the eight students attending from UF are a part of the Medical Student Committee to FCEP and are thus responsible for organizing and executing the medical student specific programming, providing them with a unique hands-on experience in medical education. Finally, the attendees will report to the leaders of EMSA on “lessons learned” and help write a report on the meeting to be published in the EM Pulse magazine published by the Florida College of Emergency Physicians. EMSA will use the advice of the attendees to better serve the College of Medicine in its programming.

Questions/Concerns
The MCC has budgeted $182.00 for 4 students to attend the event, however, given the growing interest in EM at our school and importance of FCEP in our community, we would like to send 8 students to the meeting. Additional funding would enable students who may not normally consider attending such an important event due to cost concerns to attend. Furthermore, the three students who are attending as part of the FCEP Medical Student Committee are required to attend and are representing UF to the entire state. However, when they are running the medical student programming, they cannot participate in it, so it would be beneficial to send additional UF students who can benefit from the medical student-specific programming and give the FCEP Medical Student Committee feedback.
