Purpose of Trip: I have been invited to give an original paper on a topic in Jewish Bioethics at this upcoming meeting. You can see a schedule of the event with a description of my talk at the following link: http://societyofjewishethics.org/2014%20Annual%20Meeting

This is an opportunity for me to share a medical-ethical perspective informed by my studies at UF on a national stage. The annual meeting of the Society of Jewish Ethics is attended by national and international scholars and is a part of the larger Society of Religious Ethics annual meeting, which also includes Christian and Muslim Ethics. Additionally, I will be able to bring back to the University of Florida the insights and perspectives of global scholars on topics such as the bioethics of circumsision, paradigms for constructing an ethos of nonviolence, questions on the interplay between race and ethics, the religious ethical notions of gender norms, among others.

In sum, this is a chance for me to give UF a presence on a prominent stage, to contribute the the scholarship of Jewish Bioethics, particularly as it relates to justice in the distribution of healthcare, and to return to the University of Florida with the significant added value of knowledge on diverse topics in contemporary religious ethical scholarship.
