On Monday, September 30, the Holistic Medicine Interest Group (HMIG) partnered with the Office of Student Counseling and Development to sponsor a lunch talk focused on Mindfulness in Medicine. Dr. Ritz spoke about the principles behind mindfulness and gave us some great examples of research that support the practice of mindfulness in medicine. Two students, Doug and Alex, shared their experiences with MIM and inspired us to continue to practice mindfulness throughout our medical educations. Dr. Condit led us in a short meditation exercise designed as a quick intro to MIM, and then we closed with a description of the ways to get involved in MIM on campus. It was an all around great hour and the HMIG is really excited to help students practice mindfulness in medical school!
