The SNMA and the Peds Interest Group joined to host a screening of HBO and the Institute of Medicine’s documentary “the Weight of the Nation”. We watched the fourth part of the documentary which focuses on the beginnings of the obesity epidemic and some innovative ideas for improving the health of our nation and our patients. Underserved populations and children are overly represented among the population of obese Americans, and we hope that the film provided new insight into the complex issues of food policy and obesity prevention in this country. We used our budget to provide health(ier) subs from Subway for lunch along with delicious fresh fruit and vegetables. The event was well-attended and we hope that it went along nicely with the MS1 Nutrition Intensive!
