Purpose of Trip: The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Annual Meeting is the premiere national meeting for emergency medicine physicians. Educational sessions include sessions on the NIH and EM research, Ignite! – a fast paced lecture series on a variety of topics, and a medical student research symposium. The conference is geared towards academic and community based programs. Attending this conference not only furthers the education of the medical students that will present their takeaways from the conference at an Emergency Medicine Interest Group meeting, but also integrates into UF’s campus-wide campaign – “UF Rising to National Preeminence”. Participating in a top national medical conference like SAEM’s national meeting is the kind of exposure UF desires in its journey to become one of the nation’s top public universities.
