What is the Purpose of the Event? EM Procedurepalooza is an interactive event for both first and second year students to practice their clinical skills and also celebrate the end of the semester. We work with residents from both the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Anesthesia to practice IV placements, suturing, intubation and U/S. We know from previous events that the total funding needed will be about $600. Last year $583 was spent on food/drinks and materials such exam gloves, pigs feet for suturing, IV catheters, suture material, etc.
What is the Benefit to the State, the university, and/or your organization? This event is a fantastic opportunity for first and second year students to get hands on experience that they might not get otherwise. For many students, this will be their first opportunity to practice placing an IV, suturing, intubating, ultrasound, and other very important skills.
