What is the Purpose of the Event? In keeping with the Rainbow Caduceus Project, we will be distributing rainbow caduceus pins to HQA members that have attended 2 or more events over the course of the year, or otherwise demonstrated knowledge and compassion in treatment of LGBTQ patients.
What is the Benefit to the State, the university, and/or your organization? The rainbow caduceus is a symbol to be worn on the student's white coat that identifies them as a safe and knowledgeable provider for the LGBTQ community. Symbols such as this are important in signaling to patients from these marginalized communities that they are in a safe space with a provider that has demonstrated an effort to be informed on the special considerations for these patients. This these patients to feel comfortable in truthfully disclosing details of their personal lives and health to their providers.
