Purpose of Trip: We are requesting the support of the Office of Educational Affairs in sending a group of 10 officers from Equal Access Clinic Network (EACN) to the 2018 Annual Society of Student Run Free Clinics (SSRFC) Conference. EACN is one of the largest student run free clinics in the country and it is our goal to continue to learn from and help improve other student-run free clinics throughout the country. Our network of volunteer students and healthcare providers work tirelessly to provide essential services to our community by offering both acute and primary care medical services. Our leadership also works to continuously improve and expand our operations and service offerings. Since we are entirely student run, all of the ideas and development of the EACN has been generated by the determination and perseverance of our clinic officers.
This conference allows for students from across the nation who participate in a variety of different clinic models to meet and share information and knowledge gained through their experiences to continue to improve the student-run free clinics that exist throughout the country. The SSRFC conference allows for students to disseminate innovations so that we can all continue to expand and develop our clinic network. The conference also provides an opportunity to foster relationships and network with fellow medical students throughout the country. These relationships and the educational environment allow for our officers to gain valuable professional skills that will be used to continue to benefit the patients we serve. A requirement for students to attend this conference is the development and presentation of independent research projects from the unique opportunities available within EACN.
We hope the benefit of the SSRFC Conference to both UF Students as well as the community and patients we serve is clear. Without the benefit and guidance of meetings like this, EACN would not have grown to what it is today.
