What is the Purpose of the Event? During the week of October 6-12 every year, we celebrate National Physician Assistant week. The purpose of this week is to increase awareness about the profession, and the role of Physician Assistants within the medical community. Throughout this week we hold many events at the Harrell Medical Education Building, such as skin cancer screenings, and invite alumni, current health care providers, and anyone interested in the profession to come and celebrate with us.
What is the Benefit to the State, the university, and/or your organization? Last year a shirt was created specifically for the PA program during PA week stating, "PA's do that". The shirt highlighted all of the responsibilities of physician assistants within the medical field, and brought to light the importance of their role. The shirts were recognized nation wide, and drew attention not only to the profession but also to the program that we have here at the University of Florida. We hope that we can continue where last years class left off, and use fundings to once again purchase each member of the class a shirt for advertising. By doing this we can catch the eye of more prospective students, and other health care providers nationwide.
