For our first installment of the Race and Medicine Lecture series, Dr. Sherita Holmes led a fantastic talk on how pain in black individuals and other minorities are often improperly treated. She explored how misinformation regarding race during times of slavery has led to misconceptions that still prevail to this day leading to poor management of pain in some solely due to race. She also informed us, as students and faculty, of the ways in which we can work to combat this moving forward.
