Event held by WILD – Wilderness Medicine Interest Group on 05/17/2021:
We hosted an out-of-this-world lunch meeting with Dr. Esther Beltran, a flight surgeon who leverages her medical background to pioneer novel radiation protection techniques for the NASA Radiation Effects on Volatiles and Exploration of Asteroids and Lunar Surfaces (REVEALS) Institute. Dr. Beltran discussed her original training as a surgeon and how she entered the field of Aerospace Medicine, and she presented on the future of human space exploration and the implications of microgravity on human physiology.
