PHIG -Intersection of Public Health and Clinical Medicine with Dr. Rasmussen

Dr. Rasmussen, author of over 260 peer-reviewed papers and the lead editor of The

CDC Field Epidemiology Manual will be showcasing the intersection between public health and clinical medicine. Dr. Rasmussen joined UF after 20 years at the CDC in Atlanta. She will be discussing her experience at CDC and provide students with valuable insight into important aspects of global and national health infrastructure. Dr. Rasmussen will also go over her decision to switch from working as a pediatrician to a career more focused on community health and public health during that period in her life. Sonja Rasmussen, MD, MS, is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the UF College of Medicine and College of Public Health and Health Professions. In this role, she serves as a clinical geneticist, seeing a broad range of genetics patients, and as director of UF’s Precision Health Program, which focuses on the integration of genomics into clinical care. She is board-certified in Genetic Counseling, Pediatrics, and Clinical Genetics.
