Lunch and Neurodivergence with “Twice Exceptional”

Event held by SPNIE – Students Promoting Neurodiverse Inclusion and Equity on 10/15/2021:

We met for a group reading and discussion of “Twice Exceptional” by Kassiane A Sibley. This essay describes some of the experiences of a neurodivergent person in higher education. The brief essay was emailed to participants at the start of the event and read aloud by an MS2, Shawn Diertl. After the reading, we discussed the role of stigma and self-advocacy in the essay and our lives. We hope to build community strength and awareness as a primer for our future event with Dr. Solberg about systemic advocacy!
