Mission Statement:
The purpose of JMSA is to create a supportive and collaborative community within the medical student body that celebrates the cultural and religious identity of Judaism. JMSA will foster connections between Jewish students, faculty, professionals, and the greater Gainesville community by providing educational opportunities, facilitating networking, and promoting cultural and religious diversity in the medical field. JMSA serves to represent the Jewish medical student community so that students may come together to explore their Jewish identity and how it relates to the practice of medicine. This organization creates a safe place to celebrate Jewish cultural events and confront antisemitism with other medical and professional students, regardless of religious background. JMSA will foster a strong sense of community and pride in their Jewish identity through guest speaker sessions, mentorship programs, community service, social events, and more. The ultimate mission of JMSA at UF is to actively pursue and understand Tikun Olam (Healing the World) in the context of modern medicine.
