Welcome to the the Muslim Medical Students Association!

Medical school is a time of great stress and new challenges during which students often lose the balance between their academic and personal lives. Humanistic, spiritual, and religious organizations are imperative to help maintain this balance and supporting students during this time. The Muslim Medical Students Association will provide a system of spiritual support, social activity, fellowship, and advocacy for Muslim students and non-Muslim students with an interest in Islam. There will also be educational events for all students with a focus on the relationship between Islam and medicine, as well as interfaith activities with other spiritual organizations.

MMSA Goals

This organization will provide a support network for Muslim and non-Muslim students during the challenging medical school years and form a social support network. In addition, we will provide service to the community through advocacy, participation in food and clothing drives, as well as providing free healthcare for the underserved in Gainesville in association with the UF branch of the American Medical Association and the free RAHMA Mercy Clinic. We will also participate in feeding the homeless in association with St. Francis House and Project Downtown Gainesville. Lastly, we hope to develop a lecture series to educate the student bodies about issues and cultural sensitivities prevalent in the Muslim community in relation to our future medical practice.
