What is the Purpose of the Event? The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is a UN initiative to promote and empower women/girls to participate in scientific advances throughout the world. Specifically, there is a large gap between women and men who get PhDs and eventually become full time researchers. The goal of this event is to gather a panel of successful female researchers to empower young scientists. We want to have a panel discussion from these successful female researchers so our graduate students have the ability to ask pressing and essential questions about moving up and breaking the glass ceiling.

What is the Benefit to the State, the university, and/or your organization? Empowering young researchers will increase the workforce and eventually lead to more grant submissions and innovative research, thus benefiting the word.
