Due to strong interest in the positions, the EMIG ran internal elections this year. Candidates spoke for one minute about why they were interested in and qualified for the position of president or treasurer of EMIG. Porter Maerz (MS1) was elected president and Kristopher Paultre and Jennifer Mahler were elected co-treasurers for next year. In addition, Dr. Hoelle gave a talk about a mysterious event in Cameroon in 1986 that led to hundreds of villagers being found dead. She led the group in discussion of how a toxicology-trained EM specialist would approach the scene.
