IHAIG- Fighting Healthcare Disparities in Immigrant Communities

Event held by IHAIG – Immigrant Health and Advocacy Interest Group on 05/25/2021:

IHAIG (Immigrant Health Advocacy Interest Group) hosted Ms. Robin Lewy, Director of the Rural Women’s Health Project (RWHP) on Tuesday, May 25th at 12 pm to talk about “Fighting Healthcare Disparities in Immigrant Communities”. As Co-founder and Director of the RWHP, Ms. Lewy oversees advocacy and direct service to Latino communities, immigrants, women living with HIV, and rural communities in North Florida. She will help raise awareness of the major obstacles immigrants face when trying to access quality medical care as well as how to address them as future medical providers. Moreover, she shared how UF COM medical students can get involved in participating in diverse campaigns that serve these vulnerable populations.
